Travel

If you're coming by air, we recommend flying into JFK or La Guardia. Newark to Brooklyn can be a bit of a slog.

If you're coming from elsewhere on the East Coast, taking Amtrak to Penn Station is a civilized way to travel. Kris recommends the cheese plate and a half bottle of wine from the snack car. Mike suggests the hot dog.

More Things To Do In Brooklyn

Museums & Gradens

Check out flowers at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, art at the Brooklyn Museum, and trains at the NY Transit Musuem.

Brooklyn Bridge Park

Walk down Atlantic Avenue to Brooklyn Bridge Park, where you'll find views of the Statue of Liberty, the Financial District and, of course, the Brooklyn Bridge.

Prospect Park

Take a walk around Prospect Park, Kris's favorite spot in NYC.

Brunch

Pick up a sandwich at Stinky Brooklyn, or grab brunch at some of our favorite spots: Buttermilk Channel, French Louie or Colonie.

Pizza

For an adventure and an amazing pizza, head out to Di Fara in Midwood. See the New Yorker feature on them here. For something a little closer, checkout Juliana's or Grimaldi's.

Libations

Sip on a cocktail at Clover Club or Leyenda — both are good brunch options as well. Or grab a beer at Bar Great Harry or the lovely Whole Foods Roof Top Bar (look for the family of stray cats in the lot acorss the canal).

Shopping

Go shopping on Atlantic Ave. or Smith St: Consignment Brooklyn - Collier West - Gold Smith

Books

Spend time at some of Brooklyn's really great independent bookstores: Books are Magic, Greenlight Bookstore and Community Bookstore.

Movies

A good rainy day option: see what's playing at BAM or The Alamo Drafthouse.

Groceries

If you're looking for groceries, there's a Whole Foods on Flatbush Ave., and a Trader Joe's on Court St.
